World’s Largest Cave Passage

There’s a jungle inside Vietnam’s mammoth cavern. A skyscraper could fit too. Hang Son Doong, or “mountain river cave,” is in a remote part of central Vietnam. Hidden in rugged Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park near the border with Laos, the cave is part of a network of 150 or so caves, many still not surveyed, in the Annamite Mountains. You can read the full story of the cave explorers expedition here.

Nat Geo had a great issue about this. They even hypothesize that this cave set may have even helped in the Vietnamese efforts to win the war, for their people were able to use these caves and tunnels to escape and attack and yet we, the US, had no idea it was even there, this massive natural creation.

Hell yeah!

Hell yeah!

Unfinished, still working on it… but thought there was enough progress to share it.

Something I started to practice filling stitches but it’s turning out to be a lot nicer than I anticipated.

SO GOOD

Women who kill their batterers because they have tried every other means of escape (to no avail) frequently are given stiff prison sentences. The system that does not protect women’s rights to freedom from abuse zealously protects their abusers from the victims’ acts of self-defence (see Browne 1987; Ewing 1987).

Dee Graham, Edna Rawlings & Roberta Rigsby. Loving to Survive: sexual terror, men’s violence, and women’s lives. NYU Press. July 1 1994. (p. 21)

the very sad & unfortunate truth. that batterers who are killed by their victim are cared more about than those being victimized. what the hell is wrong with this place?

AMEN

i will always reblog this because i believe that 99% of anti-choicers have never given this question any real thought at all, and that is SO MASSIVELY PROBLEMATIC that i haven’t had enough coffee to cover it yet today

SUCH a prime example of the narrow-mindedness of most anti-choice people. It’s called empathy; maybe they should fucking try it.

I finally figured out that I’m solitary by nature, but at the same time I know so many people; so many people think they own a piece of me. They shift and move under my skin, like a parade of memories that simply won’t go away. It doesn’t matter where I am, or how alone—I always have such a crowded head.
